Yesterday‘s concert has been in the beautiful Martin Luther church. It was dedicated to Viennese Classic with Mozart and Haydn.
At first we heard the first Divertimento for string orchestra of Mozart, then the two concerts for Cello and orchestra of Haydn and at last the Sinfonie in A major of Mozart. The Cello soloists were Johannes Moser and Daniel Müller-Schott, the orchestra the Dresdner Kapellsolisten conducted by Helmut Branny.
Johannes Moser played very passionate, always communicating with the first violin. Mr. Müller-Schott played more reserved, maybe more precise. It was obvious that this was a world class concert with two of the best cellists there are. This year the music festival is dedicated to the cello so I will probably hear even more of them.
The program said that the cello concerts of Haydn are typically used for auditioning cellists for an orchestra. I guess we have heard the best possible audition yesterday!
