I started a little concert marathon again.
Today I heard the first part of the Ring Trilogy (!) at the Theater an der Wien, one of the smaller opera houses in Vienna (they have in total 4). The Ring Trilogy is a shorter version of the original Ring of Richard Wagner especially written for this house.
The music is nearly completely original but they focus on the three „children“ in this adaptation, Hagen, Siegfried, and Brünhilde.
Today we have seen Hagen, i.e. the first act was a large part of Rheingold and the second act a large part of Götterdämmerung.
It worked out very well and gives you a different view of the piece. Of course you should know the piece quite well, but I would assume everybody listening to this adaptation has seen the piece several times.
The singers sing and act excellently. I am really excited to see how it continues!
