Won’t go in that detail, but when we thought, Fox had done an amazing show on Monday – which he has – he did even better tonight!
I didn’t know, whom to expect, but when Fox came on stage, my heart beat a little faster. And he was perfect in every aspect. His acting was simply convinging, he made the right pauses in the right moments, the right accentuation of the right words. His dancing again outstanding: during the swan lake scene his older counterpart had a little slip with the chair, of course not Fox. Unperturbed they danced the scene togehter and it was a joy for me to see, how Fox enjoyed himself. During Angry Dance he left me in tears, as well as in nearly the complete second half of the show – I know I’m kind of a sissy, but how will that be on Saturday in a week? I miss Fox already!
Michael was played by Connor. It was the first time, I have seen him, but now I can understand, why everybody is raving over him! He is so cute and funny! I enjoyed every piece of his acting. During Express Yourself Connor and Fox stood on stage for an endless time and just flirted with each other before Fox joined Connor in front of the mirror. You could feel the tense of the situation also in the audience. It was great! And in the Christmas scene, when Michael warms Billys hands, it was so obvious, that he felt in love with him. I have never seen the scene so perfectly played, as today.
Two small remarks: During the audition scene, the funny part with the pencil and the tape did not work out, as normal. So Billy did not give the pencil back to the instructor, but tape and pencil directly to the sound mixer. Nothing you would realize, when you don’t see the show regularly. What I had seen the first time was, that when Billy says goodbye to his father and he is being held by him, he imitates the miners work. You can normally not see this from the stalls, as the other miners stand in front of them both.
All in all I would say, this was my best Billy Elliot experience ever!
