Yesterday evening I have been to a concert of Mozart’s Requiem conducted by the fantastic Peter Schreier.
It was a benefit concert celebrating his 80. birthday in favor of the organ of Dresden’s new concert hall. At the end he received a well deserved full standing ovation of the completely sold Kreuzkirche.
I was sat aside an elderly Lady who I thought to be in her seventies. When we talked she told me that she has seen Peter Schreier a lot – even when he was still a boy (he started his musical career in Dresden’s famous boys choir). Turned out that the Lady was born in 1924!
