I have just been to a concert of the LGT Young Soloists at the Robert Schumann Saal in Düsseldorf. Today they also invited Esther Yoo as star guest.
It has been the second best concert I have experienced this year. The best was the concert of the same ensemble in Dresden in May. I want to hear them again, now! According to the program the LGT Young Soloists are one of the best youth ensembles in the world. I have never heard a better one! Listening to them is pure joy. Seeing how they have fun together on stage makes me happy. Everyone with the faintest interest in classical music should go and listen to them. You may also join me, as I will be back as soon as I can!
For everyone who does not remember my last review about them: the LGT Young Soloists are a string ensemble of 20 (16 were on stage) musicians between 15 and 23 years from Europe. During each piece some play a solo while the others play the background.
Special today, besides the performance of Esther Yoo was the Europe Premiere of a piece while the composer was here. Not disharmonious like most of the contemporary classical music, but more like a love song between the two violins.
As an encore Esther Yoo played the theme of Schindlers List. It was so intense, it made me cry. The other encore was by Karl Jenkins; unfortunately I forgot the title. I will try to find out later.
Unfortunately the concert was not sold out. Especially in the first and second row a lot of seats were empty. So when I concentrated on the music I had the impression they played only for me.
