Today I have completed my little concert marathon with the Christmas Oratory parts 1-3 of Bach in the Vienna Konzerthaus. It was played by Wiener Symphoniker. I had a perfect seat and was very happy. The musicians were wonderful.
The choir was the Wiener Singakademie and it could have been a bit stronger especially at the beginning. So from that perspective I have not yet heard a better interpretation than by the Kreuzchor in the Kreuzkirche in Dresden.
But with Wiebke Lehmkuhl we had a very strong alto singer who has sung the most emotional aria „Schließe mein Herze“ I have heard so far. Very special was that she is heavily pregnant and had so to say the role of Maria.
Now Christmas may come! 😊
