Finally I went to “Peter and Alice” at the Noel Coward Theater.
The play was about the namegivers to Peter Pan an Alice in Wonderland who met and told themselves about their lives. Alice was played by Judy Dench and Peter by Ben Whishaw. While Judy Dench obviously is a good actress I was disappointed of Mr. Whishaw. It was hard to tell, if he was really acting or only recited his text on stage. Also the production itself and the rest of the cast did not make the piece any more exciting or emotional. At the end there were standing ovations but I can’t tell why. Just because Mrs. Dench is famous for her cinema appearances is not a reason for giving standing ovations for a poor theater piece. Maybethe rest of the audience has seen a different piece than me.
Sidenote: when I picked up my ticket I nearly ran over an old Lady standing beside the theater. When I looked closer I saw that she was giving autographs. Looking even closer I realized it was Mrs. Dench. I would normally not recognize her on the street 🙂
