The Tempest was amazing!

Yesterday I have been to the Duke of York‘s Theater in London to watch Sir Ian McKellen as King Lear in King Lear.

It was a good thing I read the piece beforehand as the English is hard to understand (in fact I read the English/German version and the German is hard to understand), so I was able to follow the piece in large parts.

Besides the difficult English I can say it was an excellent production! They extended the stage with a middle aisle through the whole theatre which allowed them to have more possibilities to get on and off the stage and have a truly royal entrance.

The tempest on stage was amazing! Never seen that before! The acting – especially of Mr. McKellen – was great. I wouldn’t say King Lear becomes my favorite piece on stage but it probably does not become better than yesterday.

The production will be in German cinemas on September 27th. It is worth watching!
