Yesterday the Kreuzchor sung a memorial concert to the descrution of Dresden during WWII. It always starts with Mauersbergers “Wie liegt die Stadt so wüst” which is incredibly beautiful and sad!
The second piece was a modern one: “Sonnengesang” of Sofia Gubaidulina. As it is typical for modern art, sometimes I like it very much but sometimes I am wondering, whether the artist is making fun of me. This piece did not belong to the first category. The performance of the musicians and the choir was fabulous, but the best I can say about the piece is, that it did not touch my heart.
But the conclusion of the concert was the Requiem in c-minor of Luigi Cherubini. This was fantastic again!
