Rhapsody in Blue was not as it should be

Today I have been to a concert at Musikverein Vienna. They played Gershwin and Bernstein and our conductor has once been the assistant of Mr. Bernstein. And indeed the last piece which were dances from the West Side Story was extremely good.

But the reason for me to go to the concert was „Rhapsody in Blue“. I have heard that piece at least 50 times, maybe 100 times. I know the different versions of the piece with large orchestra or for two pianos and have seen it in all versions live.

Most notably the version for solo piano of Frank Dupree. But today I was disappointed. We heard part of the rhapsody and part of what the pianist made out of it which was much too soft.

I definitely prefer to hear it from Frank again. Therefore I copy a link to his version here.
